Do Higher Costs Equate to Superior Performance?
Do higher acquisition costs always equate to superior technology and performance? Not necessarily! In today’s technology-rampant world, a new “technology wrinkle” comes out every day. And, many people are quick to adopt these new, more costly technologies as soon as they are available. However, more costly technologies do not always provide superior performance.
When it comes to critical alert messaging, higher costs do NOT mean better communications. When you carefully examine the trade-offs between cost and functionality in critical communications, you will discover that the more costly wireless media – WiFi, cellular and iPhones do not provide superior communication channels for your critical messages.
The mission of critical alerting is to communicate a critical message as quickly and accurately as possible and have assurance that your critical communication has been received and is being acted upon. The technologies of the more costly media mentioned above add considerable complexity to the critical communication stream, and when this is the case, there are many things that can go wrong to hamper the delivery of a critical message. A response paging system is much less costly and easier to operate. Its single focus is the delivery of critical messages and providing assurance that those messages have been received and are bring responded to. In critical alert messaging, more expensive does not mean better communication.
